Mark Consuelos Admits Kelly Ripa’s “Right” For Always Taking Pictures And Recording Firework Displays: “That’s My Giving Tuesday To You”
Mark Consuelos gave Kelly Ripa a win on Tuesday’s Live with Kelly and Mark.
Consuelos brought up the trend of movie theater goers “rudely snapping photos and taking videos at the movies,” and wasn’t so sure as to whether the trend will ever end.
“Whenever you’re somewhere, you know, like watching a movie that everybody’s watching, people take photos,” he continued. “Or if they’re at a concert, they take videos. Or if they’re at a fireworks show, they [record] the whole thing… And you’re never going to watch it again.”
However, Ripa chimed in to deem Consuelos’ take “passive aggressive.”
“I like to record firework displays and I think they’re beautiful,” she claimed. “And I do look at them later on because when I’m in — let’s say, it’s freezing in New York, and fireworks don’t seem ever possible again, I’ll look at one of my firework displays.”
Consuelos acknowledged that his wife and co-host has been “doing that ever since [she’s] had a recording device on [her] phone.”
“Before social media and all that stuff, you’ve been doing that,” he conceded.
Ripa insisted that she doesn’t do this for social media, but rather for herself. Nonetheless, she continued firing back at Consuelos.
“While we’re at it, as soon as Mark needs a photo for some reason, for any reason,” she added. “Let’s say it’s one of the kids’ birthdays. Does he harvest his own phone for images? No, he doesn’t. Because like a bank machine — he also doesn’t know how they work — so he goes into my wallet when he needs cash to tip somebody. Because that’s the bank, my wallet is the bank.”
After Consuelos teased that he hasn’t “been to an ATM machine in years,” Ripa noted that he “doesn’t take photographs.”
“So what he does is he says, ‘Hey, you have any cute photos of the kids when they were little?’” she explained. “And I go, ‘Yeah, as a matter of fact, I do. I have hundreds of photos of the kids when they were little, because I’m the only person that takes photos of anyone, any time.”
Consuelos opted to own up to this, telling Ripa, “You know what? You’re right. You are right, Kelly Ripa Consuelos. I’m never going to make fun of you taking a video of fireworks ever again.”
As the studio audience’s applause quieted, he added, “That’s my Giving Tuesday to you.”
Despite his admission, Ripa replied, “I could see you complaining if it harmed you in some way.”
Though Consuelos insisted “it’s annoying,” Ripa argued “it’s not annoying” and harmless.
“That should not annoy you. Things you do that are annoying, are super annoying,” she teased. “And they harm everyone.”
Consuelos went right back at Ripa, asking her, “By the way, when you go to the cash machine, can you get some more tens and fives?”
