A “love rat” investigator who tests men’s loyalty to their partners has revealed the professions most commonly associated with cheaters.
“If I see a certain kind of profile, I know that they’re a cheater,” she said, per The Sun.
Madeline Smith, a 32-year-old from Los Angeles, boasts more than 224,000 followers on TikTok, where she advertises her loyalty test services to suspicious women who shell out as much as $65 for the evidence.
Smith — who has tested 5,000 men over the last three years and exposed hundreds — said the No. 1 occupation held by cheaters was law enforcement.
“I’ve probably caught over 100 police officers since I started doing this,” Smith said. “That’s the most likely profession to cheat in my experience.”
She said “service” professions like firefighters, paramedics and military officials top the cheat list, claiming “they’re always looking for an opportunity.”
After police officers and service personnel, Smith said gym bros — “the ones who post progress pictures or ones where they’re flexing their muscles,” she noted — were the second most likely to be unfaithful.
“A gym picture here and there is not a big deal, but when it’s their identity it’s a huge indicator,” she explained.
Businessmen and those in sales roles who are forced to travel often for work have also been found to be disloyal because they have “opportunities to cheat,” Smith revealed.
“Their family life is their family life and if they’re traveling they dissociate too much, and it justifies their behavior in their eyes,” she said, adding that “it’s easy to meet people to give them attention if they’re going out to dinners or bars for work a lot.”
“Cheating gives them a sense of feeling invincible, and I think they compartmentalize too much.”
Lawyers, too, are among the professionals she’s found more likely to cheat because they often have a “work hard, play hard” mindset, Smith claimed.
Doctors, however, fell at last place on Smith’s list because of their grueling hours — although she added that, if they do cheat, it is likely with their colleagues or staff.
“I think in general people are severely emotionally stunted and men much more so. They look for an opportunity because they have historically never had to be accountable for their actions,” Smith said.
“Women usually fixate on one person to compensate for all their emotional discrepancies and try and fix them despite knowing deep down they’re unlikely to change.”
According to The Sun, recent data from the site Illicit Encounters confirmed Smith’s claims, revealing that police officers were, in fact, the biggest cheaters.
The website’s survey, which named the top cheating professions from 2024, found that 63% of police officers polled admitted to being unfaithful last year.
Builders came in second with 42% saying they cheated, followed by 37% of salespeople and 31% of personal trainers.
The professional “honey trapper” — who previously revealed the signs of a cheater, such as placing his phone face down, using Snapchat, excluding his partner from photos and refusing to share his location — also explained why partners are unfaithful.
“A lot of the infidelity and seeking outside of the relationship is about not having the right partner or not being happy with themselves,” said Smith.
“It can also be because people aren’t patient enough to find the right person or patient enough with themselves to realize that they need to do a lot of work.”
