Kelly Osbourne calls out ‘disturbing’ celebrities using LA fires as a ‘photo op’: ‘Go home’
Kelly Osbourne called out celebrities for using a natural disaster as a “photo op” in the aftermath of the disastrous fires that have ravaged southern California.
Taking to social media, the daughter of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne slammed stars who made public appearances in recent days in a desperate bid to “get attention.”
“Is it just me being my usual cynical self or is it really disturbing to see all of these celebrities using other people’s pain and suffering as a photo op to say, ‘Look I’m helping, I’m doing this, I’m doing that?’” she said in a since-deleted Instagram video, which was reposted to TikTok Wednesday.
“I don’t believe you help so that you can get attention for helping,” she added. “I believe you just help because you want to.”
Osbourne, 40, said she disagreed with how some A-listers have handled their response to the fires.
“I’m so confused. I think it’s so wrong,” she said. “No one asked you to come out and give hugs. Go home.”
Osbourne didn’t name any celebs specifically, but the former “View” co-host’s fans quickly assumed she was referring to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who were photographed visiting fire victims and first responders over the past week.
“Well said Meghan and Harry brought a full film crew with them for there [sic] own benefit PR stunt,” one person wrote in the comments section.
“So you mean Megan [sic] and Harry? Yes yes yes and Jennifer Garner prolly,” another added.
While a third wrote, “We know who this is about lol.”
On Monday, the Duchess of Sussex was photographed dropping off donations at a relief center in Altadena, Calif., run by Altadena Girls, a grassroots organization founded last week by an eighth-grade girl whose school burned down in the Eaton Fire.
A source told The Post that Meghan’s donations were provided through her and Prince Harry’s charitable Archewell Foundation, named for their son, Prince Archie, 5.
And last week, the “Suits” alum, 43, was joined by her husband at the Pasadena Convention Center where they were photographed hugging and consoling people who were displaced by the fires.
The duo also toured some of the areas burned by the fires and met first responders along with state and local officials.
The pair made financial contributions through their foundation to assist in recovery efforts.
Shortly after their outing, the Sussexes were slammed by “Family Ties” alum Justine Bateman, who called the royal couple “disaster tourists.”
“Meghan Markle and Harry are no better than ambulance chasers. What a repulsive ‘photo op’ they achieved,” she wrote via X.
