Sally Struthers Claims She Was “Totally Fat-Shamed” By Betty White: “Very Passive-Aggressive Woman”

Sally Struthers is speaking out about the late Betty White.

On Monday’s (Jan. 13) episode of the Let’s Talk About That! With Larry Saperstein and Jacob Bellotti podcast, Struthers said “now that she’s gone,” she could shed light on the late Golden Girls alum, who died at age 99 in 2021 and whom Struthers noted “everybody loves.”

“They loved her so much. They signed petitions to get her to guest host Saturday Night Live. I know all that,” she clarified. “I didn’t have such a great experience with her. Very passive-aggressive woman.”

Struthers, who lived “four houses up the street” from the home used as the exterior for The Golden Girls house, recalled visiting White’s home in order to “work on a pilot for a new game show.” After White requested that her housekeeper bring them snacks, a plate of cookies eventually arrived.

“So I reached for a cookie, and she said in front of everyone, ‘Oh, I wouldn’t do that if I were you, dear. You don’t need a cookie,’” she claimed.

Struthers added, “Totally fat-shamed me in front of the rest of the people in the room. And I thought, ‘Gosh, that’s not nice.’”

Struthers remembered White’s Golden Girls co-star, Bea Arthur, much more fondly, teasing that she “loved how filthy she was” and that Arthur “was a big deal.”

As for what the All in the Family and Gilmore Girls actress has been up to, she recently starred in A Man on the Inside, Netflix‘s Ted Danson-led comedy which was renewed for Season 2.
