Florida man, Gene Follin, turned in by son for possession of child porn on Google account
A Florida man turned his creepy father over to the police after he allegedly found nearly 1,000 files of child pornography on his dad’s phone while fixing his Google account, which was locked because of the disgusting imagery.
The Kenneth City Police Department arrested Gene Follin, 63, who allegedly confessed to police that he knowingly possessed the images that also included child erotica on Jan. 28, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by the Smoking Gun.
Follin’s son, Jared, informed the police of the discovery on his father’s phone on Sept. 10, 2024.
The older Follin had asked his son for help accessing his Gmail account after being told it was disabled because of “Sexual, Explicit Images of Children,” the document alleges.
A month later, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children sent a tip to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children task force after a Google account was flagged for uploading child pornography to its Google Photos folder.
A sheriff’s office detective notified the Kenneth City Police Department about the flag, leading to a subpoena of the IP address, later confirming Gene Follin was the user of the account.
Kenneth City is located 9 miles northwest of St. Petersburg.
The detective issued a search warrant for Follin’s Google account and was given photos uploaded to the account between March 13, 2023, and Sept. 10, 2024.
The arresting police officer was given a secure USB drive that allegedly contained 952 files of the revolting content.
One explicit image described in the affidavit involved five girls between the ages of 5 and 8.
Follin, a Missouri native, was charged with 20 counts of possession of child pornography, all second-degree felonies, according to jail records viewed by The Post.
He was booked on a $100,000 bond but was released from jail on a surety bond on Jan. 30.
If found guilty, a single second-degree possession charge carries a maximum 15-year prison sentence.
