‘Agatha All Along’ Star Patti LuPone Reveals Why Creator Jac Schaeffer Won’t Make Season 2

Despite Patti LuPone’s official status in the MCU—something that can’t be undone—fans shouldn’t count on a Thanos snap to bring her back anytime soon.

The three-time Tony winner recently explained why her Disney+ series Agatha All Along won’t be returning for a second season, though she remains hopeful about collaborating with creator Jac Schaeffer again.

“Jac Schaeffer, the creator, came into my trailer and she said, ‘Patti, I’m just here to tell you that Lilia’s going to die,’ and I went, ‘But I wanted a second season…’” LuPone shared during an appearance on Andy Cohen’s SiriusXM podcast.

According to LuPone, Schaeffer is firm on her creative approach. “[Schaeffer] said, ‘I don’t do second seasons,’” she recalled. “She said, ‘They wanted me to do a second season of WandaVision and I didn’t.’ She said, ‘There’s too much to write,’ so she does one-offs and I’m really hoping and praying that someday I get to work with her again because she’s magic.”

Meanwhile, Kathryn Hahn, who first brought Agatha Harkness to life in WandaVision, has expressed interest in returning to the MCU.

“I think everyone would be thrilled to come back, of course, in any capacity,” Hahn told Deadline in December. “It was a very life-altering, deep experience in Atlanta, Georgia, with just this very small cast on the soundstage, day after day after day.”

Agatha All Along follows Hahn’s Agatha as she leads a group of fellow sorceresses—including LuPone, Aubrey Plaza, Sasheer Zamata, Ali Ahn, Debra Jo Rupp, and Joe Locke—down the mythical Witches’ Road, a path meant to grant them their deepest desires.
