Saquon Barkley takes playful jab at Giants after Jameis Winston’s free agency question

A funny interaction between Saquon Barkley and Jameis Winston at Super Bowl Opening Night led to the Giants catching a stray.

Barkley was speaking to reporters from all walks of life on Monday night at the Caesars Superdome when Winston, who is serving as a correspondent for Fox Sports during Super Bowl week, came up and asked the Eagles running back who should sign the out-of-work QB.

“In this free agency, man, I’m a free agent, I don’t really got no job. Who should sign me in free agency?” Winston asked Barkley while he sat at the podium.

“I think New York needs a quarterback right now,” Barkley responded.

That prompted Winston to ask, “New York who?”

“The Giants,” Barkley clarified.

After the clip seemed to get traction online, Barkley took to X to address the exchange in a post that was deleted shortly after it was posted.

“I literally said dabs (coach Brian Daboll) gonna get you right… This thing with me and giants is so played out,” Barkley wrote in the since-deleted post

Barkley, of course, played his first six years in the NFL with the Giants before he left the team via free agency this past offseason and signed with the Eagles.

He hasn’t been afraid to make a joke at the Giants’ expense at times and Barkley has kept a close friendship with former Big Blue quarterback Daniel Jones.

Jones was released by the Giants in November days after he had been benched by the team and eventually signed with the Vikings.

The move has left the Giants in search of a new quarterback to lead the franchise, which led to the joke toward Winston, who will be an unrestricted free agent when the season comes to an end.

Winston played for the Brown last season and threw for 2,121 yards, 13 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in 12 games (seven starts).

Barkley had previously poked fun at the Giants in an online ad campaign with Unisom ahead of the regular season finale when the Eagles would play his former team.

The running back’s season and playoff run have been a nightmare for Giants fans and their front office, as Barkley has become one of the best backs in the game and recorded at least two touchdowns in his last two playoff games.
