Giancarlo Stanton hits monstrous two-run homer in World Series debut
Welcome to the World Series, Giancarlo Stanton.
Stanton hit a booming two-run homer in the sixth inning to give the Yankees a 2-1 lead against the Dodgers in Game 1 in his first career World Series game Friday night.
The slugger pulled a 1-2 knuckle curve from Dodgers starter Jack Flaherty and deposited it in the left-field seats to give the Yankees the lead.
Stanton followed a strikeout by Aaron Judge after Juan Soto singled to start the inning.
The Dodgers then pulled starter Jack Flaherty just one pitch into No. 5 hitter Jazz Chisholm’s plate appearance in an odd sequence.
The Dodgers had taken the lead in the previous inning on a Will Smith sac fly.
