LeBron James teases his Luka Doncic Lakers future: ‘Coming soon’

It’s the “Coming Soon” poster that has Lakers fans salivating. 

NBA superstar LeBron James teased Luka Doncic’s Lakers debut in an Instagram post on Wednesday night. 

The Instagram post featured an image of James and Doncic sitting on the Lakers’ bench during their 122-97 win over the Clippers and had a caption that simply read: “Coming Soon.” 

Doncic is expected to make his Lakers debut on Saturday against the Pacers at Crypto.com Arena. 

The Lakers also posted a video on Wednesday of Doncic taking shots during a team practice in between James and Austin Reeves. 

The video showed Doncic practicing his 3-point shot from various spots on the floor. 

A separate video from practice also showed Doncic throwing up and making a half-court shot. 

The Doncic trade turned the NBA on its head last weekend when the Mavericks dealt the five-time NBA All-Star to LA in a deal that sent Anthony Davis to Dallas.

Doncic spoke to the media for the first time on Tuesday and acknowledged that he was as shocked as the rest of the league was when he found out about the deal. 

“Everybody was surprised, so you could imagine how surprised I was,” he said. “I was almost asleep when I got a call, had to check it was April 1.

“I couldn’t really believe it at first. It was a shock, a hard moment for me. It was home. It was really hard moment for me, especially the first day.”

James quickly reached out to Doncic after the trade broke and welcomed him to Los Angeles.

“That was really nice of him to call me right away and welcome me to LA,” Doncic said.

The Mavericks were reportedly concerned about Doncic’s conditioning and weight before the start of talks that general manager Nico Harrison had with the Lakers.
