Miles Teller has 1 demand for Tom Cruise on ‘Top Gun 3’
Miles Teller is still waiting to feel the need for speed.
The “Top Gun 2” actor, 37, appeared on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” Wednesday and claimed he hasn’t heard any updates about the third film.
“Look, you might be shocked, but I do not green light that thing,” Teller said. “I have nothing to do [with it].”
Teller, who played Lieutenant Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw in the 2022 sequel, revealed the one demand he gave Tom Cruise for his “Top Gun 3” prep.
“I just told Tom, I said, give me enough time, a heads up for me to get in shape,” Teller shared. “It’s one month per ab. I need six months heads up.”
“That’s the only way I train,” he said with a laugh.
Colbert, 60, then asked Teller: “So yes, it’s happening is what you’re saying?”
But Teller reiterated that he has no “Top Gun 3” updates to share.
“I don’t know. There’s a lot of enthusiasm on the fans side. There’s a lot of enthusiasm on the creative side,” he said. “So we’ll see.”
The conversation then turned to Colbert pitching his idea for the third film.
“The navy switches over to drones. AI drones, they’re super effective,” the talk show host said. “But the drones get hacked so they have to draw the Top Guns back out of retirement to fight the drone army.”
“Man versus machine,” Colbert added, before looking at the camera and warning “Top Gun: Maverick” producer David Ellison to not “steal” his idea.
“I’ll tell him,” Teller said with a laugh.
The second “Top Gun” was acclaimed by critics and grossed over $1.4 billion worldwide.
News broke in January 2024 that Paramount Pictures was officially developing a third “Top Gun” movie, with Cruise, 62, expected to return as the lead star and producer.
But like Teller, co-star Lewis Pullman said that he’s in the dark about plans for the upcoming film.
“I haven’t heard hide nor hair about that,” the actor told The Post in Aug. 2024.
“But, I would be game to get back up in those planes and especially get back with those actors and those filmmakers,” continued Pullman, who played LT “Hangman” Seresin in “Top Gun: Maverick.”
He added, “So that would be fun to slip back into that again, but I haven’t gotten a call yet.”
Last March, “Top Gun: Maverick” producer Jerry Bruckheimer revealed that he and director Joseph Kosinski approached Cruise with a “wonderful” idea for “Top Gun 3.”
According to Bruckheimer, Cruise “really liked” their pitch, but they don’t know when the movie will be made since the action movie star “is too busy.”
However, Cruise and Teller’s co-star Glen Powell alluded that “Top Gun 3” was close to start filming in July 2024.
“I mean, I have a date,” Powell said on the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast. He then declined to give any more details about the film.
