Queen Camilla once hated the idea of becoming queen — and had strong opposing thoughts about royal protocol, according to a new royal book.
In “Yes Ma’am: The Secret Life of Royal Servants,” royal author Tom Quinn lays bare Camilla’s alleged feelings on various aspects of royal life.
In an excerpt published in The Times of London, Quinn writes that the king’s wife once complained to Charles about having to follow royal protocol.
“One member of staff told me that at one point, Camilla hated the idea of being queen and would regularly say to Charles, ‘Can’t we get away from all this protocol?’” Quinn wrote.
“It’s all bollocks,” the queen allegedly added.
And when Camilla, 77, reportedly told the king she had no interest in becoming queen, “Charles, who hates swearing, would demurely reply, ‘You’re doing it [becoming queen] for me, darling,’” Quinn wrote.
According to the royal author, “protocol means suits must be pressed and laid out after a period of consultation the night before,” and shoes “must be polished.”
Meanwhile, baths should “be run at precisely the same time each day,” Quinn adds.
What’s more, Quinn added that the monarch, 76, and his eldest son and future king, Prince William, are “prone to tantrums if things are not done to their liking.”
“They both get irritated very quickly,” a former palace staffer told Quinn. “They are very picky. It comes naturally to them.”
The Post has reached out to Buckingham Palace for comment.
It comes just months after Camilla’s sister-in-law, Princess Anne, blocked her attempt at breaking royal protocol during an official engagement.
After the pair arrived together at the University of London for an event in November, they were escorted into the Senate House, where the ceremony took place.
But to show respect to Anne, Camilla invited her to enter the room first — breaking the first step of the protocol that has been in place since 1066.
Anne, who is all too familiar with the royal family’s order of precedence, “smiled and politely refused” — instead welcoming Camilla to enter the room first.
During public-facing duties, royals are expected to respect the “sequential hierarchy of nominal importance,” meaning that their majesties are to always enter the room first.
And while Anne, who is the only daughter of the late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, was born into royalty, she still ranks below King Charles’ wife within the Firm.
Elsewhere in his book, Quinn wrote that Prince William felt increasingly “uncomfortable” with Meghan Markle’s “constant hugging.”
