The Legend of Lara Croft’ Renewed for Season 2 at Netflix
Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft has been renewed for Season 2 at Netflix.
Season 1 of the eight-episode animated original series debuted on the platform on October 10.
Hayley Atwell is the actress behind the voice of Lara Croft. The series attracted mostly positive reviews from critics, who have collectively given the show a 73% critical approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
The official logline for Season 2 states:
“When adventurer Lara Croft (Atwell) discovers a trail of stolen African Orisha masks, she joins forces with her best friend Sam (Karen Fukuhara) to retrieve the precious artifacts. Lara’s thrilling new adventure takes her around the globe as she delves deeper into the hidden secrets of Orisha history, dodges the machinations of a dangerous and enigmatic billionaire who wants the masks for herself, while discovering these relics contain dark secrets and a power that defies logic. Power that may, in fact, be divine.”
In addition to Atwell and Fukuhara, the Season 1 voice cast includes Allen Maldonado, Earl Baylon, Richard Armitage, Zoe Boyle, Roxana Ortega, and Nolan North.
The series is written by Tasha Huo, who also executive produces alongside dj2 Entertainment founder and CEO Dmitri M. Johnson, Timothy I. Stevenson, Jacob Robinson via Tractor Pants, Dallas Dickinson and Noah Hughes for Crystal Dynamics, and Howard Bliss and Jen Chambers.
Powerhouse Animation is the animation studio behind the show, with Brad Graeber serving as executive producer.
The original “Tomb Raider” video game was released in 1996 on the Sega Satrun by developers Core Design and Aspyr and had sold over 2.5 million units by 1997. As of 2024, 20 “Tomb Raider” games have been released.
The game was adapted into a multi-film Tomb Raider movie franchise starring first Angelina Jolie and later Alicia Vikander as Croft.
