Yahoo’s Super Bowl 2025 ad includes Bill Murray’s email address — and it works

You’ve got Bill.

Bill Murray gave out his email address in a 2025 Super Bowl commercial made by tech giant Yahoo, and, surprisingly, the email works.

The 15-second spot aired Sunday during the matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles and is the first Super Bowl ad Yahoo has made in 23 years.

The commercial initiates an interactive experience for viewers, with Murray, 74, posing a quizzical question.

After gazing into a mirror to find a dog’s reflection staring back at him, the “Groundhog Day” star worriedly asks, “Have you ever looked in the mirror and NOT seen yourself?”

“I don’t think I need professional help, but a skilled amateur … maybe? Little help?”

Murray then prompts watchers to email him, holding up a sideways notepad with an email address scrawled across it: billhimself@yahoo.com.

The ad was posted to Yahoo’s social media accounts. “Just email Bill Murray at billhimself@yahoo.com,” the company’s X profile read as of Sunday. “He’ll explain everything…sort of.”

“Email Bill Murray. Yes, that Bill Murray. billhimself@yahoo.com,” Yahoo wrote in their Instagram bio.

The company also posted a video recorded Sunday at the Superdome in New Orleans, the site of the 2025 Super Bowl, with a note taped to a pole which reads: “EMAIL BILL MURRAY.”

Anyone who sends an email to “billhimself@yahoo.com” will partake in the unfolding of an “untold story” as they send messages back and forth with Murray, who is responding to the emails, per People.

Taking the promo even further, the “Ghostbusters” actor will go live on Yahoo.com and Yahoo Sports during Sunday’s Super Bowl.

Social media creators and influencers have also been recruited to arouse curiosity and propel engagement with the project.

“Classic Bill Murray just showing up randomly in that yahoo commercial,” creator Tank Sinatra posted. “That guy is the best[.]”

“When you want to do something completely original and unexpected, there’s only one person to call: Bill Murray,” Yahoo’s Chief Executive Officer Jim Lanzone said in a statement given to People. “The beauty of this campaign is how it brings together Bill’s legendary storytelling and improvisation with the simplicity of email to create something entirely new.”

He adds, “With Yahoo turning 30 this year, we’re inviting everyone to be part of an adventure that could only happen with Bill Murray. We’re also celebrating achieving the impossible: getting Bill to check his email.”
