Paul McCartney set to play surprise show in NYC tonight

NYC, it’s time to come together for Paul McCartney’s impromptu performance.

The Grammy-winning musician is playing a special one-night show at the Bowery Ballroom on Tuesday.

Doors are set to open at 5 p.m., with showtime starting at 6:30 p.m. Tickets were only available at the Bowery Ballroom box office and sold out 30 minutes after the concert was announced.

Only physical tickets were sold, with McCartney, 82, urging fans not to fall for fake digital tickets. He posted on Instagram Tuesday, warning, “Avoid purchasing tickets from third-party vendors. Fake tickets will not be honored and entry will be denied.”

The Bowery Ballroom marks his first gig of 2025. McCartney’s last performance in the tristate area was headlining New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium, which has a capacity of 82,000 people, in 2022.

The Beatles frontman spent most of last year on the final leg of his “Got Back Tour.” The run started in 2022 and wrapped in December 2024. The final show was in London and featured Ringo Starr and Ronnie Wood.

Although McCartney hasn’t clarified if this is a one-off performance or the beginning of playing in 2025, the artist did reveal he was working on finishing his solo album. In a Q&A with fans on his website, McCartney shared that he’s “been working on a lot of songs” but had to put the album “to the side” to focus on the “Got Back” Tour.

“I’m hoping to get back into that and finish up a lot of these songs,” he wrote at the time. “So, how’s about that? My New Year’s resolution is to finish a new album!”

The rocker’s last solo album, “McCartney III,” arrived in 2020.

McCartney’s performance comes after fans were left in a frenzy when he was spotted at the Super Bowl. The singer enjoyed his Sunday as the Kansas City Chiefs took on the Philadelphia Eagles at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.

During the game, a camera panned over to show McCartney sitting casually in a star-studded box with Paul Rudd and Adam Sandler. In a nearby box sat Kevin Costner and Pete Davidson.

McCartney waved to Sandler, 58, and others around him. In one clip posted on X, the legendary musician was seen lifting the beverage he held in one hand as if to make a toast.

Fans shared their excitement on X, with one writing, “I didn’t have Paul McCartney waving like an excited child when featured on the big screen/broadcast on my Super Bowl bingo card. I laughed. Good stuff.”

“My goat Paul McCartney doing side quests,” another social media user chimed in, while a third declared that he was “the only goat in the area.”
