Millie Bobby Brown opens up about swapping Hollywood for farm life

Farm livin’ is the life for her.

Millie Bobby Brown has opened up about living on a sprawling farm away from Hollywood.

The British-born “Stranger Things” actress, 20, spoke about the joys — and rigors — of the rural domesticity she shares with her twenty-two-year-old husband Jake Bongiovi, son of singer Jon Bon Jovi, in a new interview with Vanity Fair.

Though Brown “barely checks her phone and largely delegates social media duties,” according to the magazine, she is nonetheless acquainted with the current trend of trad-wife content, which overly romanticizes the type of pastoral life she leads when not acting in front of the cameras.

But, as she makes clear, luddite fantasies have not guided her decision to live on a farm in rural Georgia.

“I’m not doing it for the aesthetic,” she said. “I’m doing it because I love it. There are maybe some trad wives out there doing it because it seems wholesome, but it is not.”

Getting real, she added, “If you’re not picking up horse s–t or washing a cow with your bare hands, then that life is not made for you. At all.”

With an array of horses, sheep, goats, cows, and donkeys, plus a tuxedo cat and a therapy dog, Winnie, it’s clear Brown loves animals. That love motivated her to create an animal rescue and, in 2022, start taking classes in veterinary studies. She has also bought an ultrasound machine so she can learn how to scan animals to see if they’re pregnant.

“I’m able to treat wounds, take their pulse, moderate blood pressure, things like that. I do all their medical records myself,” she told Vanity Fair. “Now I just have to do my externship, which is like sitting in on surgeries and things like that. Adoption campaigns [on social media] are wonderful temporarily, but you really have to get in there and do the work to make a difference.”

She and Jake married in May of last year in a small ceremony before holding a more lavish celebration in Tuscany in September.

She shared a first-look at their dreamy wedding ceremony at Villa Cetinale the following month.

“Forever and always, your wife,” Brown captioned the carousel of the special day, which included photos from their nuptials and two of her breathtaking gowns.

Before the wedding, her rockstar father-in-law gushed about her joining the family.

“She’s really wonderful and her and Jake are a great couple,” Bon Jovi told E! News. “They’re madly in love. It’s an exciting adventure they’re on.”

The final season of “Stranger Things” will air on Netflix later this year.
