Wendy Williams has taken the next step in her battle for freedom.
The former talk show host, 60, signed an affidavit on Wednesday afternoon asking a judge to end her guardianship, according to TMZ.
Sources told the outlet that Williams claimed she “regained [the] capacity” to function without her court-ordered guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, who has been in charge of her well-being and finances since 2022.
Insiders also shared that she will allegedly be re-evaluated by a doctor next Tuesday, adding the physician was handpicked by Williams’ legal team, whom she hired to end her guardianship.
Her lawyers will then allegedly file an emergency order to force the judge to look into ending the years-long guardianship.
Williams’ attorneys reportedly already have a plan in place if the judge turns down the request, with sources telling TMZ that Wendy will demand a jury trial to hear her plea.
The Post has reached out to Williams’ lawyers, with one declining to comment. Her other attorney, Jason Atlas, responded that “everyone in the case has Wendy’s best interests at heart and we all expect that the ultimate outcome will be in line with those best interests.”
The news comes after the outlet dropped its latest documentary titled “TMZ Presents: Saving Wendy,” which is now available on Tubi.
Williams has been living in a New York facility, which she said is more like a “prison.”
In the doc, the beloved former “Wendy Williams Show” host claimed she’s only been outside twice in the past 30 days.
“No, no. I am not allowed to go out. I can call you, but you can’t call me,” she told Harvey Levin. “In the last 30 days I went out twice.”
Williams is not allowed to have visitors at the facility, so the interview was conducted over the phone. TMZ filmed Williams from the sidewalk below as she stood looking out of her fifth-story window.
She also charged that the system has failed her, arguing that she is not “cognitively impaired” while making it clear: “I want my freedom back.”
“This system has failed from top to bottom regarding this guardian and everybody involved with that,” Williams said in the doc.
Earlier this month, Williams’ guardian informed a judge that she’d be open to having the star undergo a new medical evaluation in light of Wendy’s claims that she isn’t suffering from dementia despite being diagnosed by doctors at Weill Cornell Medical Center.
Williams recently shed light on life inside the facility, telling Charlamagne tha God on Jan. 16, “My life is f–ked up.”
She added, “I feel like I’m in prison. I’m definitely isolated. I keep the door closed, I watch TV, listen to the radio and look out the window. Sit here as my life goes by.”
