Blake Lively subpoenas Justin Baldoni’s phone records for alleged smear campaign
Blake Lively is coming after Justin Baldoni’s phone records.
The “It Ends With Us” actress’s lawyers filed subpoenas on Wednesday in an effort to prove that Baldoni, 41, and his associates allegedly launched a smear campaign against her.
According to Variety, AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile were all subpoenaed by Lively’s lawyers, Mike Gottlieb and Esra Hudson, and asked to provide phone records belonging to Baldoni, his producer Jamey Heath, Wayfarer Studios co-founder Steve Sarowitz, publicist Jennifer Abel and crisis management expert Melissa Nathan.
Lively’s spokesperson said in a statement, “Phone records belonging to all of the individual defendants will expose the full web of individuals who were involved in the smear campaign against Ms. Lively.”
“Such records will provide critical and irrefutable evidence not only about who, but also about when, where, and how their retaliation plan came together and operated,” the statement added.
Subpoenas were also reportedly sent to Cloudflare, Inc. and AOL for internet records to “show the involvement of different persons who might be playing key roles in digital retaliation,” according to Lively’s spokesperson.
Baldoni’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, called Lively’s subpoenas a “massive fishing expedition” that he said will not lead to evidence for their case.
“They are asking for every single call, text, data log, and even real-time location information for the past 2.5 years, regardless of the sender, recipient, or subject matter,” Freedman’s statement to Variety read. “This massive fishing expedition demonstrates that they are desperately seeking any factual basis for their provably false claims. They will find none.”
In December, Lively filed a $250 million lawsuit against Baldoni and his associates, including Abel and Nathan. Lively claimed Baldoni sexually harassed her while filming “It Ends With Us” and launched a smear campaign when she spoke out about her alleged mistreatment.
Baldoni has denied the allegations through his lawyer. He and his publicists countersued the “A Simple Favor” actress and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, for $400 million, alleging defamation, extortion and more. Lively’s lawyers denied Baldoni’s claims.
The “Jane the Virgin” actor, for his part, released never-before-seen text messages and a website outlining the timeline of events while filming the adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s best-selling novel, claiming Lively took measures to gain control over the movie.
Lively and Baldoni’s trial has been scheduled for March 2026.
