Mark Consuelos Refuses To Play Kelly Ripa’s Game About His Imaginary Mistress: “I Would Never Be That Stupid”

Mark Consuelos wasn’t entertaining any of Kelly Ripa‘s steamy scenarios on Live with Kelly and Mark today.

While on the topic of Galentine’s Day, which takes place today, the day before Valentine’s Day, Ripa mentioned that their executive producer Michael Gelman had told her that the Feb. 13 celebration “is also known as Scoundrel’s Night.”

Gelman explained, “Well, that was when someone who was having a wife, and then a girlfriend, would take their girlfriends out on the night before because the wife expected them [to take them out on Valentine’s Day].”

After Ripa asked how Gelman knew of the holiday’s salacious origin, he noted he learned of it by reading about it “in the paper.”

“So now we always go out on Scoundrel’s Night because the restaurants aren’t crowded —,” he said of him and his wife Laurie.

Ripa teased, “Laurie likes to feel dirty. It’s exciting.”

Gelman quipped, “Yeah, she’s my girlfriend.”

As for the Galentine’s Day tradition, Ripa took a moment to praise the “great” women in her life, both in and out of work.

“We’re very lucky. We’re very fortunate,” Ripa added, to which Consuelos replied, “I agree. I think it’s a good celebration.”

Ripa joked, “And that way you can go out with your mistress while I’m out with the girls. See how we, like, kill two birds with one stone.”

At first Consuelos played along, telling Ripa, “You’re busy. I’m busy. Everyone’s busy.” However, Ripa decided to take it one step further with a “what would you do” scenario for her husband and co-host.

“I know we have to get to the show, but what would you do? What would you do if I’m out for Galentine’s Day night, right? And I’m with my girls… You think I’m going to restaurant X, but we pivoted at the last minute. We’re like, you know what? Let’s go to wherever, different restaurant. And you are out with your mistress. Oh, my gosh. What would you do?”

Consuelos said that he “would never be that stupid,” leading Ripa to joke, “You would have to fly to a different country.”

“If someone does that —,” Consuelos began.

Ripa continued, “They’re looking to get caught.”

Consuelos agreed, “They want to end the relationship or they’re just too cowardly to end the relationship.”

However, Consuelos’ response wasn’t spicy enough for Ripa, who chided, “You’re not even any fun to play this game with.”

While Gelman quipped that “it’s a good Hallmark movie,” Ripa doubled down on her argument, claiming Consuelos is “the worst to play this game with.”

“I can’t do anything fun with him… Like, any scenario I give to him, he’s like, ‘Well, first of all,’” she teased. “He never engages in the fun of the, ‘What would you do if I walked in, and you were there with your mistress?’ Like, would you separate us? What if I went after you? What if she went after you? And he’s like, ‘I would never do that. That’s so ridiculous.’ And I’m like, ‘No, but let’s have the fun game.’”

Consuelos likened the game to “three-card Monty, where the only person that loses is [him].”

“That’s not a game I wanna play. It’s not fun,” he concluded.
