Mac McClung needed just one round to shock fans and win his third consecutive NBA Slam Dunk Contest.

McClung, 26, opened Saturday’s Slam Dunk Contest with a bang, as he jumped over a KIA sedan into a reverse slam for his first dunk of the night en route to his third consecutive win in the event.

All five judges gave McClung’s dunk 50 points, amounting to a perfect score in the Slam Dunk Contest.

The dunk’s concept of jumping over a car is a tribute to longtime NBA high flyer Blake Griffin, who completed a similar slam fourteen years prior.

Griffin’s dunk ultimately led to him being the winner of the 2011 Slam Dunk Contest.

McClung, however, jumped over the highest point of the vehicle, whereas Griffin jumped over the hood of a similar car.

The 26-year-old became the first player in NBA history to win three consecutive NBA Slam Dunk Contests, and just the second to win the event three times, with the first being Nate Robinson.
