Heroes, zeros from Jets’ loss to Patriots: Jacoby Brissett was savior
Heroes, zeros and the full blitz from the Jets’ 25-22 loss to the Patriots on Sunday:
Hero
Patriots backup quarterback Jacoby Brissett came off the bench in the second quarter when starter Drake Maye suffered a concussion and he led the Patriots to the victory.
Brissett engineered the game-winning drive, including a 34-yard pass to put New England inside the 10.
Zero
Jets kicker Greg Zuerlein had another brutal game and could be replaced before the Jets play on Thursday night.
He missed a 44-yard field goal in the fourth quarter and an extra point in the first quarter.
Zuerlein has now missed six field goals this season.
Unsung hero
Marcus Jones returned a Thomas Morstead punt 62 yards early in the third quarter to set the Patriots up at the Jets 26-yard line.
They scored a touchdown five plays later and took a 14-13 lead.
Key stat
3: Consecutive seasons in which the Jets have had losing streaks of at least five games.
Quote
“This is a moment of darkness, and we understand that the outside world is going to get really loud right now. But the only thing I know in life is that when it gets dark and it gets hard, that you work and you point the finger at yourself and you look inward and you figure out what can I do better from an individual standpoint. If we do that collectively, which I believe we will, that’s your only opportunity to dig yourself out of this.”
