Murderer released on parole now wanted for murders of his pregnant wife and her unborn child
A Minnesota murderer who was released on parole earlier this year is now being hunted for the fatal shooting of his pregnant wife and her unborn child, according to cops.
Mychel Allen Stowers, 36, has been on the run for over a week since his wife, Damara Alexis Stowers, was found gunned down in her St. Paul apartment — where there was also an ultrasound photo of her unborn child, KSTP reported.
He was also caught on surveillance footage shooting a driver in the leg to steal his Audi and flee the area, according to criminal complaints obtained by the outlet.
Stowers was supposed to be living in a halfway house since March, when he was released from prison for a 2008 murder, the outlet said, without detailing the earlier crime.
However, he had been staying with his wife at her apartment — even though they were going through a divorce and there were efforts to get him evicted, according to the criminal complaints.
Cops responding to reports of a shooting on Oct. 19 found the mom-to-be on the floor of a bedroom alongside five shell casings and a loaded handgun magazine. She was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS soon after, according to the report.
Stowers has been charged with her murder, along with that of her unborn child. It was not immediately clear if he would have been the father.
He has also been charged with a carjacking that was reported just minutes after his wife’s shooting, and around 500 feet away from the murder scene.
A driver told cops he was shot in the leg by a man who stole his Audi after saying something he did not understand, according to the criminal complaint
A man who was with the victim said the suspect also tried to shoot him, but missed.
The injured driver was taken to the hospital with a broken femur. Police later found two casings at the scene.
Stowers has been charged with second-degree murder, second-degree murder of an unborn child, two counts of first-degree carjacking and two counts of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon.
He supposedly called the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office saying he wanted to turn himself in for having shot a man, but remains on the run, authorities said.
