Jamie Lee Curtis says Colin Farrell gave her COVID at SAG Awards 2025

Jamie Lee Curtis says Colin Farrell gave her COVID at SAG Awards 2025

There’s a COVID superspreader in Hollywood.

At the 2025 SAG Awards on Sunday, Jamie Lee Curtis presented the award for Male Actor in a TV Movie or Limited Series, and before she read Colin Farrell’s name as the winner, she leveled a playful accusation at the Irish actor.

“And the actor goes to… the man who gave me COVID at the Golden Globes, Colin Farrell,” Curtis, 66, said.

“The Penguin” star, 48, went on stage to accept his award, hugged “The Last Showgirl” actress, and said to the crowd, “Guilty as charged!”

“But Brendan Gleeson f—ing gave it to me, so I was just spreading the love,” Farrell added, as Curtis laughed on the side of the stage.

Farrell and Curtis appeared to be referencing the 2023 Golden Globes, where they both were nominated for their respective projects “The Banshees of Inisherin” (also starring Gleeson, 69) and “Everything Everywhere All at Once.”

Three days after the January 2023 award show, Curtis announced that she contracted COVID.

“Sadly, this head cheerleader is not going to be at all the weekend festivities cheering on her friends and colleagues,” the actress wrote on Instagram. “Life on life’s terms. I’m glad that there are all these home tests available so that I didn’t go to the @americanfilminstitute lunch and spread my germs.”

She added, “I was SO looking forward to going to the @bafta tea and the @criticschoice awards as a nominee and member of a motley crew! I’m so proud of these people, and I look forward to cheering them on through my TV set. Stay safe out there people.”

Two months later, Curtis and Farrell both attended the 2023 Academy Awards where Curtis won her first Oscar for her performance in “Everything Everywhere All At Once.”

To promote their critically acclaimed movies that both came out in 2022, Curtis and Farrell were paired up in Variety’s Actors on Actors series and bonded over being sober.

“I had suspicions, before I got sober, of how painful life could be,” Farrell said in the interview. “But I had no ability to hold that without being self-destructive and without living in it… I don’t live in that now.”

When asked about her legacy, Curtis told Farrell, “Being sober is going to be a legacy, for sure. Because I’m stopping what has been a generational issue in my biological family. It’ll be the single greatest thing I do, if I can stay sober.”
