Florida teen pleads guilty to sexually assaulting, beating 91-year-old woman
A Florida teenager pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting and beating a 91-year-old woman after breaking into her home in June.
Jesse Stone, 14, was charged with sexual assault and burglary and he entered into a plea deal on Nov. 7, according to court documents obtained by WCJB.
The elderly woman had been awake when Stone broke into her home in Reddick, Fla. around midnight on June 9, according to the Facebook post.
Investigations using DNA evidence from the scene positively identified Stone as the perpetrator, according to a Marion County Sheriff’s Office post on Facebook.
Police spoke with Stone about a video neighbors had recorded the night of the assault that showed a person wearing a dark t-shirt and shorts jogging near the area, as reported by the Ocala Star-Banner.
Stone denied that it was him, but detectives were quick to point out that he was wearing similar clothes to the person in the video.
Stone eventually confessed to the crimes during an interview with Detective Caitlin Hartigan, according to the Facebook post. He also said that he entered the victim’s home through her living room and had watched pornography on her iPad, according to the Star-Banner.
The woman and Stone had apparently met before and she even considered him to be “a good boy,” according to the Star-Banner.
“It came as a shock that any individual would commit such an act on a 91-year-old, but it is truly disturbing when we see the young age of the arrestee,” Sheriff Billy Woods said.
“Although I firmly believe he should be held accountable for his crime, as a father, my compassion goes out to his family. Hopefully his arrest will lead to getting him help that prevents any further such acts.”
Stone is set to be sentenced on Dec. 19, just three days before his fifteenth birthday.
