15-year-old shoots mom and sister during ‘bad reaction’ to edibles: police

A 15-year-old boy shot his mother and sister multiple times soon after calling cops to say he was going to kill someone while having a “bad reaction” to “a bunch of edibles,” according to police.

The suspect took the marijuana edibles on Saturday night with another teenager and an adult when he began to have physical issues and called an ambulance in a panic, according to police in Houston, Texas.

He then grabbed a gun when the two others started to laugh at him — and called the cops threatening to kill himself or someone else, ABC 13 reported.

When the dispatcher called back, the boy’s mom answered and said she was unaware of anything unusual going on with her son.

First responders still raced to the house — and found the boy’s mom and 17-year-old sister riddled with bullets, with both in “very critical condition,” cops said.

Members of Houston’s fire department then found the teen in the parking lot — where he pointed a gun at first responders and told them he’d just killed someone, officials alleged.

He eventually hurled the gun and tried to run away, just to get chased down and arrested, police said.

The accused shooter was taken to the hospital for observation — and is expected to be charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault of a family member, cops said.

“The 15-year-old suspect had just eaten a bunch of edibles and I guess had a bad reaction to them,” Houston police Lieutenant JP Horelica said.

The boy was not identified because of his age. It was not immediately clear how he got the edibles, and officials did not identify the pair he took them with.

The shooter’s other 16-year-old sister was also home at the time of the shooting but was unharmed.

Neighbors of the family were stunned to learn what happened.

“Since it’s that close, it kind of sends a wave to your body,” mother of two Margaret Smith, who lives right across the street, told KHOU, saying she was grateful cops could stop the accused gunman before more people were hurt. said it’s fortunate that police were able to stop the teen before he could do any more harm to others or himself.

“It could have happened to anybody, he could have walked outside and did anything to somebody,” she said.

“I’m glad it wasn’t me, I feel for the family, the mom and the sister, but it’s some lessons you have to learn, now he’s got to learn the hard way. And that’s sad,” Smith added.
