Andy Cohen defends asking ‘Real Housewives’ what plastic surgery they’ve had

Andy Cohen defended asking “Real Housewives” cast members what plastic surgeries they’ve undergone following backlash.

The Bravo mogul took to X Wednesday to respond to a critic, who wrote, “The millions of women who watch these franchises are tired of you asking women ‘what work they had done.’

“This isn’t 2009 anymore and women can do whatever they want to their face/bodies. It’s time to retire this question. It’s rude and does 0 for the viewers.”

Cohen, 56, quickly responded, saying, “‘What work have you done’ remains at the top of the list of viewer questions every season, every franchise.

“The HW have unabashedly let us into their beauty regimes since day one; It’s a big part of the series DNA.”

Several people rushed to the “Watch What Happens” live host’s defense, with one writing, “Agreed and many of us do want to know! … Being honest about it is refreshing and viewers have eyes so we know when they’ve had work done lol.”

“We fans want to know. Ty Andy,” another chimed in, as a third quipped, “I like to know just in case I want it done myself, ignore the ppl.”

This isn’t the first time Cohen has received negative feedback over his plastic surgery questions and was slammed as “rude” by “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” cast member Erika Jayne in 2019.

When asking Dorit Kemsley about going under the knife, Jayne interrupted, saying, “I hate it when people say ‘What work have you had done?’ What work have had done? I think she should answer it, but at the same time it’s kind of rude.”

“I think since the ‘Housewives’ has begun, one of the tropes I think that is common among every city and every franchise is women chasing the fountain of youth and trying to look better and look great,” Cohen responded, explaining there was no “judgment.”

In June 2022, Cohen accidentally revealed that “RHOBH” star Kyle Richards went under the knife for a breast reduction procedure after she was tired of her natural double Ds.

While not a housewife, “Jersey Shore” alum Jenni “JWoww” Farley admitted in August 2023 that Cohen “scares” her and makes her feel “very insecure” because he always asks about her looks.

Cohen, recently, complimented “Real Housewife of New York City” star Jessel Taank’s “airbrushed” look during Tuesday’s reunion.

“I have to say, you’ve gotten a glow-up since last season,” the TV host told Taank. “You look like an airbrushed version of yourself. What has happened?”

Taank appeared hesitant to answer Cohen, saying, “I mean, was I heinous before? I don’t know. I think I cut my hair and lost some weight.”

The reality star then detailed how she refreshed her Botox and fillers before admitting to getting veneers.
