Angelina Jolie reveals where she stands with ex Jonny Lee Miller
Angelina Jolie is still on good terms with her ex-husband Jonny Lee Miller.
The “Maria” star made a rare comment about her first marriage as she spoke with film critic Leonard Maltin at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival on Wednesday.
During the conversation, Maltin played a series of clips from Jolie’s filmography — including scenes from “Hackers,” the 1995 cyber-thriller in which the then-20-year-old actress starred alongside Miller.
“I was just saying to somebody, it’s really funny because I think you’re starting with ‘Hackers,’ right?” Jolie said (per People). “Yeah, it’s Jonny. I just talked to him. I love that. I get to see my ex-husband with 2,000 people.”
After the “Hackers” excerpts played, Jolie, 49, disclosed that she and the “Trainspotting” actor, 52, are still in touch 25 years after their divorce.
“Actually, it’s funny, I don’t really watch my own films, and so I [don’t] think I’ve seen it since the premiere. But I do have a wonderful relationship with Jonny, and he and I have sons the same age, and I’m so happy,” she said.
Jolie and Miller tied the knot in a small civil ceremony in 1996. They separated just 18 months later and finalized their divorce in 2000.
That same year, Jolie married her “Pushing Tin” co-star Billy Bob Thornton, whom she divorced in 2003.
The “Eternals” actress then began a relationship with Brad Pitt in 2005 after starring in “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” together.
The power couple known as Brangelina wed in 2014 but split just two years later. They settled their divorce in 2024 after an eight-year legal battle.
Jolie and Pitt, 61, share six children: Maddox, 23, Pax, 21, Zahara, 20, Shiloh, 18, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 16.
Miller, for his part, was married to actress Michele Hicks from 2008 to 2018. They share son Buster, 16.
There is a chance Jolie and Pitt will share the screen again, as “Hackers” director Iain Softley said in a 2020 interview with Collider that a sequel was “being actively considered.”
