Arch Manning reveals plans for future with Texas in rare comments

Texas forever — or at least for one more season.

Arch Manning pledged his loyalty to the University of Texas again on Monday as the Longhorns prepare for the College Football Playoff quarterfinal matchup with Arizona State in the Peach Bowl.

“I really have no plans on entering the portal or anything so I don’t really know about it, about the whole windows and everything,” Arch, the nephew of Peyton and Eli Manning, said in an interview posted by Rivals on X.

The winter transfer portal closed last week, but another one opens up on April 16 for 10 days.

Manning, though, claimed ignorance to the transfer schedule and sounds like he will be preparing for next season at Texas as he is expected to take the starting reins after playing sparingly in his first two seasons in Austin.

As college football’s most-hyped backup, Manning speaks infrequently to the media.

Instead, it’s been Quinn Ewers piloting Texas. Ewers led the Longhorns to the College Football Playoff last season when they lost to Washington in the semifinals and has them contending for a national title again this year in the expanded bracket.

Ewers, who plans to enter the 2025 NFL Draft, threw for 202 yards and a touchdown in leading Texas to a win over Clemson in the opening round of the CFP on Dec. 21.

While not shocking that Manning is staying in Texas, the millions of NIL dollars flying around has led to chaos in the college football world with players around the country constantly flipping teams for the biggest payheck.

There have been no specifics on Manning’s NIL deals — presuming they exist — however, On3.com listed his NIL valuation at $5.5 million earlier this season.

Manning started two games this season — easy wins over Louisiana-Monroe and Mississippi State — as Ewers was out with an oblique injury.

The redshirt freshman has been used situationally since, put in situations where Texas can take advantage of his mobility.

The 19-year-old threw for 939 yards, nine touchdowns and two interceptions thus far this season.
