Bills’ James Cook goes all out on wild fourth-down touchdown
The Bills have a will to get to Super Bowl 2025.
Late in the third quarter on a fourth-and-goal at the 1-yard line, the Bills went for it as Josh Allen ran an option play, pitching it to running back James Cook, who managed to dodge one would-be tackler, bounce off another and extend the ball across the plane of the end zone while falling to the ground to give the Bills a 22-21 lead.
It was a mightily impressive effort from Cook, who also scored a touchdown in the second quarter, as the Bills look to finally beat their playoff kryptonite and reach their first Super Bowl in 31 years.
Cook’s first touchdown, from 6 yards out early in the second quarter, gave the Bills a 10-7 lead.
A Xavier Worthy touchdown put the Chiefs ahead again with 4:14 left in the second, and Patrick Mahomes ran one in with 1:55 left in the half.
The Bills got one back with 23 seconds left in the half as Allen hit Mack Hollins for a 34-yard touchdown.
It’s been a breakout year for Cook, who tied for the NFL lead with 16 rushing touchdowns to go with 1,009 yards rushing in 16 games.
He also had two receiving touchdowns.
Cook had 120 yards rushing and a touchdown in the Bills’ wild-card win over the Broncos and had 82 total yards in a divisional-round win over the Ravens last Sunday.
