Border czar Tom Homan asks DOJ to look into whether AOC violated law with ICE-evading webinar: ‘Disturbing’

Border czar Tom Homan has doubled down on his scrutiny of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s attempts to help illegal immigrants evade authorities — telling Fox News again that he’s asked the Department of Justice to look into whether her actions are illegal.
“What I find disturbing is that any member of Congress wants to educate people on how they evade law enforcement,” Homan told the outlet Monday, referring to a webinar the “Squad” member’s office hosted last week titled “Know Your Rights in case of ICE.”
Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) did not appear on the webinar, but members of her office characterized ICE raids as “political tactics” that were “intended to create fear,” and encouraged migrants not to open their door if federal agents come knocking — advice Homan has claimed could amount to obstruction of justice.
“You can claim you’re educating those constitutional rights, okay, you can keep that claim, okay. But what she is in fact doing is telling people ‘Don’t open the door, hide in your home, don’t talk to ICE,’” he told Fox.
“We are talking about people who are in the country illegally, committed a crime. They are public safety threats, and they’ve been ordered removed by a federal judge,” he added. “It’s like AOC and others don’t want ICE to enforce the law that they enacted.”
Homan did not say he was pursuing charges against Ocasio-Cortez, rather that he was asking the DOJ to look into whether her actions were impeding justice.
“I’ve asked DOJ, where is that line of impediment, where is that line of interference?” he said. “I’ve simply asked the Department of Justice, give us that line.”
Asked directly whether he thought Ocasio-Cortez was breaking the law, Homan said: “I’ll leave that up to the DOJ.”
Homan and the lefty congresswoman, who represents parts of Queens and the Bronx, have sparred over the Trump administration’s crackdown on illegal immigration since it first began rolling out shortly after inauguration day on January 20.
But the tensions reached a head with the webinar last week, which included advice such as “ICE cannot enter your home without a warrant signed by a judge. Tell the agents to show you the warrant by sliding it under the door.”
Days later Homan characterized the webinar as wildly irresponsible behavior from a US lawmaker during a Fox News appearance and first said that he had asked the DOJ to look into whether any laws may have been broken.
“I sent an email today to the deputy attorney general. At what level is that impediment? Is that impediment?” Homan told Fox host Laura Ingraham. “Maybe AOC is going to be in trouble now.”
AOC responded with mockery of Homan, insisting her office did nothing beyond relay people their constitutional rights in America.
“MaYbe shE’s goiNg to be in TroUble nOw,” she wrote on X, reposting footage of Homan’s comments. “Maybe he can learn to read. The Constitution would be a good place to start.”
