Bride struggles through vows as baby screams during ceremony: ‘Left me feeling disrespected’

She was the belle of the bawl.

An angry Texas bride had to struggle through her wedding vows after a “disrespectful” guest allowed his baby to bawl nonstop during her “adults-only” ceremony, as seen in a TikTok video with 3 million views.

“The crying baby definitely distracted me and left me feeling disrespected,” spluttered Claire Kendall Taetz, 25, while describing the bawling wedding crasher.

The unceremonious moment occurred while the Forth Worth-based actress was preparing to tie the knot with the love of her life, Joshua Joe, during what was supposed to be a child-free affair aside from the pair’s nieces and nephews.

Taetz had reportedly just walked down the aisle, when she heard the tyke throwing a fit.

“Once I made my way down the aisle and my sister had re-adjusted my dress I was made aware of the baby crying,” the Texan recalled.

Taetz initially empathized because she understood that “babies can have a bad time” and hoped the parent would take the wailing infant outside so she and her beau could take her vows in peace.

However, as the officiate continued, so did the baby’s tantrum.

The footage, filmed in October, shows her giving the camera the sid-eye as the tot screams its head off during the vows.

At one point, the soulmates are seen swapping perturbed looks as other members of the party look around to try and see the source of the disturbance.

“I was confused but also trying to stay present because it was an important moment so I tried to focus on my soon-to-be husband and on the officiate,” said Taetz. “My husband was concerned as well and in the video you can see he was trying to lock in, despite the child fussing loudly.”

“I was just on edge the whole time. I wanted to be fully present for my vows,” added the flustered dramatist, who nonetheless “held her tongue” as she didn’t think it was “acceptable for a bride to say something.”

Her mother tried to intervene on her behalf, but to no avail.

“I looked at my mom and she was gesturing to [the guest to] take the baby out so he stepped out for a second but he came right back inside,” said Taetz.

In fact, multiple guests reportedly asked the parent to leave, only for him to refuse “because he drove 10 hours to see the wedding,” she said.

Taetz ultimately blamed the dad for the incident, declaring: “It’s not the child’s fault, it’s the fact the father didn’t have the courtesy to excuse himself out and that took away from the atmosphere in a monumental moment of my life.”

“Everyone thinks their child will behave but children are not extensions of us because we all have our own emotions and free will,” she added. “You can’t predict how a child will behave in a situation like this and it’s your responsibility to help them regulate their emotions.”

Many of the guests shared Taetz’s irritation.

“I didn’t say anything to [the dad] about it because I was socializing with many guests but I did have people come up to me and express their frustration,” Taetz said.

Online viewers also commiserated with the woman with one fan writing: “Are people not embarrassed anymore.”

“I would literally pause everything and just turn and stare until they walked out,” said another.

A third wrote: “I would’ve whispered to the officiant and asked him to make an announcement.”

Taetz summed up the incident by saying: “The ceremony was still so sweet and special that I don’t think the baby spoiled it but it did take my focus in and out, especially when you have a lot of nerves.”

In light of the ordeal, Taetz is urging other prospective brides to make sure their big days are adults-only so they can avoid a similar “monsoon” wedding.

“I love all my nieces and nephews and I’ve worked with kids before but no matter if you like kids or not, it’s about whether you trust your guests to step outside,” she said. “Everyone always says their kids will behave, but you’ll be thankful you said yes to a child-free wedding.”

“A lot of people are pressured by family members but I don’t think it’s rude to have one. It’s a decision for the groom and bride to make without pressure,” she added.

Child-free weddings have been a contentious trend over recent years.
