Exhausted mom opens up about husband’s annoying habit keeping her up at night
Nothing truly tests the bonds of marriage quite like the clash of bedtime routines.
An Australian woman says she’s had enough of her husband’s late-night shower antics.
“I’ve asked my husband to shower at a reasonable time, like 8:30 p.m.,” she said.
“He wants to shower before bed”
This is because he tends to run the water between 11 p.m. and midnight, causing her to lose precious sleep.
“Every time he showers late at night, it wakes me, and then I can’t sleep for another two or three hours,” she explained.
When confronted, her husband simply said, “he wants to shower before bed.”
But for the exhausted mother, her days are tiring enough as it is.
“Working and looking after kids the next day is then exhausting,” she said.
Frustrated, she turned to her local community moms’ Facebook group for advice.
“Do others see his actions as selfish? He can’t see where I’m coming from,” she asked.

Many commenters were quick to criticize his behavior.
“He can absolutely shower at a different time without it affecting his quality of life. Being woken up all the time is horrible!” one mother wrote.
“I think in this situation, he needs to make the compromise,” said another.

“Is he waking you up because he’s showering in the ensuite? Or is it because he’s coming in to get his clothes and stuff?” one person asked.
The original poster clarified it was a mix of both.
“He wakes me up from the shower, and then he comes in to get clothes with a phone torch light,” she said.
Others suggested he use another shower in the house, but that didn’t solve the problem either.
“He’s tried both, but they are near each other and both have the same effect,” she explained.
Some commenters offered a different perspective, suggesting that if his late showers were due to work, it might be reasonable.
But that’s not the case.
“Definitely a choice to stay up that late,” she said.
