The theatrical tango experience “Tango After Dark” brings superstars and World Champions Germán Cornejo and Gisela Galeassi for a vibrant, richly choreographed show that will take audiences to the sensual streets of Buenos Aires and its startling dance rhythms. Authentic and sophisticated, artistic director and choreographer Germán Cornejo blends traditional tango and contemporary styles, delivering an inventive and passionate new work.

Now in its 14th edition, First Look Festival brings to the Museum of Moving Image in Astoria, Queens, a diverse line-up of adventurous world cinema, highlighting new talents and promising directorial debuts. From March 12 thru 16, audiences will have a chance to experience bold and inventive narrative styles, highly anticipated films such as Iva Radivojevic’s “When the Phone Rang” from Serbia, “Windless” (pictured) a Bulgarian thriller directed by Pavel G. Vesnakov, “Elementary” the latest from documentary master Claire Simon, and Cuban director Miguel Coyula’s dystopian “Chronicles of the Absurd” and others. Tickets $18. Hailed as one of today’s eminent jazz voices, alto-saxophonist Rudresh Mahanthappa returns to Miller Theater (2960 Broadway at 116th Street, Columbia University) with longtime collaborators François Moutin on bass and Rudy Royston on drums, with music that pays tribute to his greatest influences such as Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, Stevie Wonder and Johnny Cash.
