Four teens arrested for holding 13-year-old girl hostage in NJ hotel room: prosecutor
Four teenagers were arrested Sunday for holding a 13-year-old girl hostage inside a New Jersey hotel room, where they tried to sexually assault her at gunpoint, according to authorities.
Police rescued the girl that morning from a hotel on Passaic Avenue in Harrison, where she said she was being held against her will and locked in a room by the group who she said physically assaulted her, the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office said.
The young victim said the four teens tried to sexually assault her and told cops that they had guns, according to the prosecutor.
Officers recovered two handguns and hollow point bullets during a court-authorized search of the room and arrested the four teenagers, who all reside in Newark.
Two 15-year-old girls are facing charges of kidnapping, simple assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, conspiracy to kidnap, attempted sexual assault, possession of prohibited devices (hollow point bullets), and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. One of the girls was also hit with an aggravated assault charge.
Neither has been publicly named because they are minors and both are being charged as juveniles.
Two 18-year-olds — Tavin McCullough and Kyle Green — were both charged with possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, endangering the welfare of a child, and possession of prohibited devices (hollow point bullets).
The investigation is ongoing.
