Stephen A. Smith is not having it.
The sports journalist, 57, said he would have divorced Serena Williams for trolling her ex-boyfriend, Drake, during Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl 2025 halftime show.
Smith discussed how he would have reacted if his wife had done what the famed tennis player did during Monday’s episode of “First Take,” saying, “If I’m married and my wife is going to join trolling her ex, go back to his ass.
“’Cause, clearly, you don’t belong with me. What you worried about him for and you’re with me? Bye. Bye.”
Following Smith’s remarks, his co-host Ryan Clark quickly tried to regain control of the situation, telling him to “stop it.”
“If you with Serena Williams, you’re going to be a kept man anyways [sic],” Clark told him. “Don’t start that.”
Smith’s comments come just one day after Williams, 43, surprised Super Bowl fans by crip-walking during Lamar’s halftime show performance while he sang his Drake diss track, “Not Like Us.”
Her appearance on stage was deemed as another dig at the Canadian rapper, whose real name is Aubrey Graham.
Although their relationship was never confirmed, it is said that Williams and Drake dated on and off from 2011 to 2015.
This is seemingly confirmed when he namedropped her in his 2013 song “Worst Behavior” and then revealed that he wrote “Too Good” about her.
Back in August 2015, Page Six confirmed that the two dated “around 2011 and even though it didn’t end that well, they have remained friends since.”
Despite Smith’s disapproval of Williams’ appearance on stage, her husband, Alexis Ohanian, applauded her on social media.
“Pretty fantastic halftime show,” he captioned several photos from the performance, which took place in Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, via X.
Williams and Ohanian met in 2015 after the tennis star had called it quits with Drake for good. The two got married two years later and share two daughters: Alexis, 8, and Adira, 1.
