‘Greedy’ wife blasted for insisting husband share his food: ‘She’s being pretty childish’

Sink your teeth into this.

A man is in the hot seat because he refuses to share food with his wife on principle.

Taking to Reddit, the nosh-harboring husband explained that he always tries to keep foods his wife loves stocked up in the house, so it’s rarely an issue.

However, the plan became a snack snafu when the fruit persimmon — like him, his wife is a big lover of the seeded treat — was in season.

In this case, she prefers eating them on the firm side, whereas he prefers them to be “the texture of pudding,” the writer revealed.

“She ate all of hers by mid-week and, I got her more at the market and she ate those, too,” he wrote.

“I just [started] eating mine today and offered her a bite. She said, ‘No, I’ll get my own.’ And I said, ‘No way, those are mine,’” the man added, referring to a mushier stockpile he had left for weeks to ripen.

Suddenly, his wife grew furious and berated the man’s refusal to share.

“She got upset at this and said this has been my thing our whole marriage. I designate food as mine. ‘All food should be anyone’s to eat if that person wants it at that moment,’ she says.”

But the husband insists that he practices what he preaches, leaving all her food, leftovers and desserts intact. He believes that there should be a firm boundary.

“And I do my best to make sure she has what she likes around,” he added. “And if I do accidentally eat the entirety of something she wanted, I hear it, believe me.”

In the comments, many came to the man’s defense.

“Your wife needs to let you have what you have set aside for yourself,” one wrote. “She has had plenty of her own.”

“It’s frustrating when you put in the effort to save food to enjoy later, only for it to be overlooked. A little respect for boundaries is key!” added one more, with numerous other commenters calling his wife “greedy” and “selfish.”

One scolder proclaimed, “She’s being pretty childish,” a proclamation that resounded with another finger-wagger.

“I do think your wife is being a little childish. She is expecting you to share all of your food while she shares none of her own,” they wrote.
