Harris-Biden’s border policy is robbing Logansport kids of an education

New York City’s migrant woes have gotten a decent amount of national attention, but the crisis caused by the Harris-Biden border madness has hit a lot of much smaller towns as hard or harder: Take Logansport, Ind.

The town of just over 18,000 has been slammed by a flood of non-English-speakers — with the county population growing perhaps 30% and the mayor guesstimating 2,000 to 3,000 Haitian migrants moving to town.

And it’s a major challenge for the public schools, where the number of Haitian migrants enrolled jumped from 15-fold, from 14 in 2021 to 207 in 2024 and local kids are being neglected as teachers’ attention is consumed by migrant students.

In response, some kids, like honors student Cheyanne Baker, 16, drop out to pursue education online.

In her words: “It’s like the teacher is so busy with them that no one else gets to learn anything.”

Kids who don’t drop out get stuck in a system with ever-decreasing standards and expectations, as teachers focus entirely on the needs of a minority of students who are far behind their peers.

That’s not just unjust; it’s a travesty — an entire generation of the town sacrificed to Harris-Biden’s political goals.

Any parent would be irate over their child being elbowed aside by a wave of newcomers, and Logansport residents have every right to be frustrated: It simply lacks the resources to absorb a massive influx of high-needs strangers.

The left will surely label every student or parent who cries foul “a racist.”

That was progressives’ first reaction to the concerns of Springfield, Ohio, residents, who protested the 60,000-person town’s absorption of 20,000 Haitian migrants — waved in under various Harris-Biden “legalize the illegals” shams.

But Logansport parents are not bigots; they’re trying to do right by their kids, whose educations are being jeopardized by the callous and cynical Harris-Biden open-border folly.

As Cheyanne’s mom, Nancy Baker, put it: “We can help people, that’s fine. But not at the cost of our children.”

Logansporters are hard-working, tax-paying, everyday people who simply want to see their children thrive.

That should also be the goal of their government.

Instead, Harris and Biden are throwing American kids under the bus — yet Democrats’ cheerleaders will call the victims selfish and heartless for pointing it out.

Somehow, progressives still claim to be the “compassionate” ones.
