Yankees fans still shudder at the mention of Jacoby Ellsbury’s name thanks to his injury-riddled time with the organization following a seven-year, $153 million deal in 2013.
And in Queens, Mets faithful may have some fond memories of Yoenis Céspedes from his performance after he arrived in a trade from Detroit at the 2015 deadline and even the following season. But the four-year, $110 million deal he signed with the Mets that offseason haunted the team for years.

Still, those hardly compare to what the dysfunctional Angels are dealing with when it comes to Anthony Rendon and the seven-year, $245 million contract handed to the third baseman prior to the 2020 season, which got even worse Wednesday, when general manager Perry Minasian announced that the 34-year-old would be out indefinitely due to hip surgery.
