I spent $20 on one single strawberry that’s the ‘best tasting’
This strawberry was berry expensive.
A Los Angeles woman spent a whopping $20 on one single strawberry at the upscale grocery store Erewhon.
Content creator Alyssa Antoci shared her very pricey berry on TikTok on Saturday, showing that the single strawberry comes concealed in a plastic case branded with the seller’s name, ELLY AMAI.
The “organic single berry” is imported from Kyoto, Japan, and has a price tag of $19 at the California-based supermarket.
“Apparently it’s the best tasting strawberry in the entire world,” Antoci said in her video.
After she popped off the plastic covering, she revealed that the strawberry was sitting on a “little tray” that she held as she bit into the fruit.
“Wow. That is the best strawberry. That’s crazy,” the 21-year-old influencer said while sitting outside of an Erewhon location.
People around her seemed to be intrigued by the fruit, and she shared with them, “Yeah, that is the best strawberry I’ve ever had — in my life.”
“For one strawberry, $19 for one strawberry,” she emphasized.
She popped the strawberry out of its lid and declared, “I need to eat every last bit of it.”
People took to the comment section to share their true opinions on the expensive strawberry.
“If I dropped $20 on a strawberry, I’d probably convince myself it was the best one I’ve ever tasted too,” one person joked.
“That’s a $1.99 strawberry from the farmer’s market, wrapped in Lunchable packaging,” another quipped.
“No, you THINK it’s the best strawberry because you spent $19 on it. It’s a mind game, hun,” someone added.
“There’s no hope for us as a society,” a user wrote.

Erewhon, beloved by celebrities like Hailey Bieber and the Kardashians, has become well-known for its jaw-dropping prices.
Last year, the luxury market sold a bag of eight large, frozen ice spheres for a whopping $32. The price tag stopped shoppers in their tracks, many of them unfamiliar with the ice’s purpose: cocktails.
