James Woods’ home survives LA fires after he thought he ‘lost it forever’
James Woods’ has experienced a miracle.
The 77-year-old actor revealed his home in the Pacific Palisades area of Los Angeles has survived the devastating wildfire that continues to ravage the upscale neighborhood.
Woods was evacuated earlier this week when the deadly Palisades Fire broke out on Tuesday.
He was later reduced to tears when he spoke about the devastation and what he believed to be his destroyed home in an interview with CNN.
However, it all changed on Friday when he was able to visit his property line and spotted his house still standing amid the rubble.
“A miracle has happened. We managed to get to our property and our home, that we were told is gone forever, is still standing,” Woods shared on X, formerly Twitter.
“In this hellish landscape ‘standing’ is relative, but smoke and other damage is not like the utter destruction around us.’
The actor also included a video of his house in the distance, telling his followers it was “the view from our deck area.”
Woods previously said he was too old to make the trek up to his hillside home.
During his CNN segment, the star choked up while talking about the house that he believed had perished in flames.
“I thought I’d be stronger than this,” Woods told the interviewer, revealing they recently renovated.
His voice continued cracking as he described the memories he shared with his wife, Sarah, in their home.
“We finally had it done, and we were swimming everyday and my blood pressure was going down,” an emotional Woods said. “If you ever saw the views from that house before this fire, they were just… It was paradise. And our neighbors, we knew them all.”
He added, “One day you’re swimming in the pool and the next day it’s all gone.”
Woods also shared that he grew concerned for his 94-year-old neighbor who has dementia and lives alone.
Saying that he and his wife were forced to leave their home with only “the clothes on our backs,” Woods contacted the police and requested a wellness check.
The actor said that authorities found the elderly man at home in his pantry.
“He’d been left alone,” Woods said. “There was so much chaos, it was like an inferno. Every house was on fire around us.”
Like Woods, Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg and John Mayer’s mansions are still standing as the Palisades Fire rips through the neighborhood at 8% containment.
Sadly, thousands of residents, including several A-listers, aren’t as lucky.
Mel Gibson, Anthony Hopkins, Billy Crystal, Mandy Moore, Tina Knowles, Miles Teller, Jeff Bridges, Eugene Levy, and Adam Brody and Leighton Meester are among the A-listers whose homes are gone.
