Jason Kelce has seen Travis undergo ‘staggering’ change

Travis Kelce has become a changed man.

At least according to his brother, Jason.

The former Eagles center appeared on the “Fitz & Whit” podcast on Tuesday, and the topic of his brother, the Chiefs star tight end, unsurprisingly came up in the conversation.

When host Ryan Fitzpatrick, the longtime NFL quarterback, asked Jason about Travis, he was wondering if he has matured at all the last few years.

Jason said that Travis indeed had and it has been “staggering.”

“One of the things I love about Travis, is that he never grew up,” Jason said when it was brought up that Travis had a basketball hoop inside his home. “He was like Peter Pan, the Lost Boys.”

When Fitzpatrick asked if that’s changing, Jason said: “For sure, and I think that sometimes when you get people in your life, maybe get that out of you, that’s a good thing. Travis is growing up, but he’s still got that youthful enthusiasm, and I think he’ll always have that, it’s just kind of part of his personality. It’s one of the reasons like every teammate has ever loved playing with him.

“You just can’t help but love the guy. And he’s a free spirit in the best possible way.”

Whether or not that someone who might have helped bring out those changes in Kelce is girlfriend Taylor Swift, the two began their high-profile relationship in the fall of 2023, which would coincide with the metamorphosis Jason described on the podcast.

It’s been a whirlwind for Travis, 35, the past few weeks after the Chiefs were crushed in Super Bowl 2025 by the Eagles, which has put his NFL future in question.

On the episode of “New Heights” last week in the wake of the Super Bowl blowout, Travis addressed his future and admitted that he still does not have an answer about what is officially next.

“I know everybody wants to know whether I am playing next year and right now I am just kicking everything down the road,” he said. “I am kicking every can I can down the road,” said Kelce, a three-time Super Bowl champ. “I am not making any crazy decisions, but right now the biggest thing is just being there for my teammates and being there for my coaches understanding there’s a lot that goes into this thing.”

The Athletic reported that the Chiefs have given Kelce a mid-March deadline — right when free agency begins — to decide on if he’ll play or not next season.

Kelce is due a $12.5 million roster bonus on March 15 if he is still with Kansas City.
