Looking back at Jets’ Aaron Rodgers era, and why it had to end

The Jets entered the 2024 season with hopes of playing on Super Bowl Sunday. Instead, the conversation about the Jets on the day of the big game was about their need to find another quarterback.

FOX Sports insider Jay Glazer broke the news Sunday that the Jets had informed Aaron Rodgers they were moving on from him. It was not the kind of headline anyone could have expected back in the heady days of training camp, when expectations for the Jets were soaring.

But after a 5-12 season and the firings of coach Robert Saleh and general manager Joe Douglas, here we are. I don’t think this is a rebuild. But it is certainly a retooling for the Jets under new coach Aaron Glenn and GM Darren Mougey. That became even clearer Sunday with the Rodgers news.
