Mets’ Sean Manaea officially signs three-year, $75M contract
Sean Manaea passed his physical and officially signed his three-year, $75 million contract with the Mets.
The lefty will return as a front-end starter after a breakout 2024 campaign in which he helped the Mets reach the NLCS with his arm and his leadership.
“Sean was an integral part of what the team accomplished last season,” president of baseball operations David Stearns said in a statement. “He impressed on the field leading the rotation and in the clubhouse with his character, attitude, and composure. I am excited to watch him continue to flourish over the next few years.”
Manaea emerged over the back half of the season, when he slid his arm angle down, and led the majors in innings and was second in quality starts from July 1 until the end of the year.
He also was a major figure in good luck charms around the team, from painting the starting pitcher’s number in eye black to the rotation circling up and jumping together after a successful outing.
