In its second Friday in theaters, “Moana 2” remained in the No. 1 spot, with sales of $11.7 million, according to The Numbers.
The animated musical adventure, starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, is projected to enjoy earnings of $50.8 million this weekend and a $600 million total since its debut, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
In its third Friday in theaters, “Wicked” landed in second place for the second week in a row, with a nearly $9.6 million-take.
The musical fantasy is expected to earn $32.7 million this weekend.
“Gladiator II” stayed in third, taking home just over $3.6 million.
It is slated to take in a total of $12.9 million this weekend, according to Deadline.
In fourth place was the Indian-language action drama “Pushpa: The Rule – Part 2,” with $1.7 million earnings on Friday, its opening day.
The sci-fi “Intersellar,” wherein an ex-NASA pilot portrayed by Matthew McConaughey searches for a new planet to populate after the Earth becomes inhabitable, sold $1.37 million in tickets in its debut to land in fifth.
