The juice was not worth the squeeze.

The idea of who should pick up the tab on a first date is a divisive issue. However, one Brazilian influencer says she now refuses to split the bill following a nightmare date when she was asked to pay half despite only buying juice.

“I thought he was joking – but he was serious,” Rosana Ferreira, 38, told Jam Press while recalling the date night shakedown.

The content creator, who boasts over 152,000 followers on Instagram, said she was on a romantic outing at a juice bar with a “guy who seemed quite interesting.”

Everything was going swimmingly until it came time to pay the check.

Despite the tab totaling just over $8 for two juices, stingy suitor reportedly suggested that they “split the bill,” the bombshell recalled.

The horrified Brazilian begrudgingly obliged. “I paid my share, thanked him for the date and left, but there was no second date,” recounted Ferreira, who sees bill-sharing as a major red flag.

“If he can’t invest in a juice, how will he invest in a relationship?” declared the outraged mother. “It’s not about the money; it’s about the attitude.”

She added, “I’m not asking for a wealthy man, just someone who knows how to take care of me and who values my presence.”

Ferreira explained that her views on gender roles in bill-sharing were formed as a kid from “watching movies where men went all out to win over women.”

“That left an impression on me and I believe the least they can do is pay for dinner or, in this case, a juice,” she spluttered.

Ferreira’s traditionalist stance has garnered her flack from critics — some of whom even accused the model of being a gold digger — but she refuses to waver from her position.

“[I’ve been criticized by others] when I make it clear that I refuse to split the bill on dates,” the Instagrammer said. “Men say they want traditional women but only when it benefits them.

She added, “But when it comes to paying the bill, they want to be modern and split everything. To me, that’s hypocrisy and I won’t accept it.”

In other words, she’s not going to let them have their juice and drink it too.

While her opinion might seem antiquated, Ferreira believes that man-splurging is “a matter of showing interest and respect.”

“A man who can’t afford to pay for the first date, considering all the expenses women incur to get ready like hair, makeup, and clothes, shows he doesn’t value the effort the other person puts in,” she declared. “The date invests money, I invest my time.”

Ferreira says she rarely goes on dates anymore at all following a string of bad romantic experiences, including getting dumped for being a mom.

“Nowadays, it feels like people have lost sight of what a real relationship is,” she lamented. “Many think a date is just a game of conquest but I’m looking for something deeper. If I go out, it has to be worth it.”
