NFL GOAT Tom Brady’s former Boston residence sells for $8.4M

A Boston residence that was Tom Brady’s good-luck charm when he was the New England Patriots’ quarterback in the mid-aughts just sold for $8.4 million, Gimme Shelter has learned. It was asking $8.69 million last year.

That’s double the $4.12 million that Brady paid for the classic abode in 2004. The legendary Hall of Fame quarterback sold the condo for $5.28 million in 2008. The residence still contains Brady’s “trophy room,” even though the trophies are no longer there, according to brokers.

The roomy three-bedroom, 3½-bath pad is in a historic, turn-of-the-century Gothic Revival building known as the Burrage Mansion, which is now divided into four units.

“The iconic building, with its Gothic Revival style, complete with gargoyles, copper details, hand-painted glass and intricate wood carvings, is truly one of a kind in Boston,” said Compass broker Ethan Goodrich, who represented the anonymous buyer.

Goodrich added that Brady’s connection to the residence — the fact that Brady lived there “during one of the most successful stretches of his career, from 2004 to 2008” — makes it even more special.

Brady, who won seven Super Bowls, is known as the greatest quarterback of all time. He was with the Pats from 2001 to 2019 and played his final three seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He has since signed a $375 million TV deal with Fox and is a part-owner of the Las Vegas Raiders.

Brady’s businesses include teaming up with the Good Kitchen to create a line of TB12 Performance Meals. He also started with a line of vegan snacks that reportedly sold out within hours.

Brady lived in the home, at 314 Commonwealth Ave. in Back Bay, during two conference championship seasons — including 2007, a “perfect” one until it ended with a loss to the New York Giants during the Super Bowl. During this time, Brady met Gisele Bündchen on a blind date in December 2006. They got engaged after he sold the house in January 2009 and have since divorced.

The 3,422-square-foot residence was renovated last year.

The apartment opens to a marble foyer that leads to an open living and dining area. There’s also an open chef’s kitchen with marble counters, a breakfast bar and an adjacent family room. The main bedroom suite includes a walk-in closet and a marble bath.

Design details include three handsome fireplaces, and marble and hardwood floors throughout — along with hidden ceiling speakers and private storage.

The listing broker was Beth Dickerson of Gibson Sotheby’s Boston Back Bay.
