NYC career criminal Tyriek Martin handed bail by Manhattan judge after attempted rape on subway

A violent recidivist sicko accused of trying to rape a woman on a Times Square subway was given $250,000 bail at his arraignment on felony charges Saturday night.

Tyriek Martin, a 34-year-old homeless man who’s been busted at least 70 times, appeared in Manhattan Criminal Court late Saturday before Judge Robert Rosenthal on first-degree attempted rape, first-degree sexual abuse and third-degree assault charges.

Rosenthal set bail at $250,000 at the request of prosecutors. He was held in jail, though being given a bail amount, as opposed to being remanded, gives the mentally ill perp with a felony-strewn rap sheet dating back to 2006 a chance to return to the streets.

Tyriek Martin is accused of attempted rape on a woman on a Times Square subway on Feb. 20, 2025.

Martin was the only other person on the northbound W train approaching the Times Square-42 Street subway station on Thursday just before noon when he smashed the female straphangers head against a pole, police and law enforcement sources said Friday.

He then threw her to the ground, climbed on top of her and tried to sexually assault her, they said.

The victim struggled and screamed for help as the train pulled into the major transit hub, a police source said, leading to several nearby good Samaritan construction workers rushing to her aid and holding the alleged rapist down until the cops arrived.

The victim, who suffered a fractured nose in the brutal midday attack, was taken to a local hospital for treatment, cops said.

Martin has been busted for crimes such as robbery, drug possession and public lewdness. He was also arrested for randomly bashing a 2-year-old autistic girl in the face with a 20-pound suitcase.
