Pete Alonso deal opens up trade possibility for Mets

After being at Polar opposites for most of this offseason to create a Bear market for Pete Alonso, the Mets and their star reunited by reaching agreement Wednesday on a two-year, $54 million contract that will enable the slugger to opt out after the 2025 season if he wants.

That leads to this question:

Now what?

1. The simplest answer is that the Mets could be done. But in the aftermath of this pact, I did begin to wonder about the implications:
