Ralph Fiennes recites ‘very demure, very mindful’ on New Year’s Eve

Ralph Fiennes is feeling demure and mindful in the new year.

The “Conclave” actor, 62, paid tribute to the viral “very demure, very mindful” trend while chatting with Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper on CNN’s New Year’s Eve show Tuesday night.

“Well, look, this is how I do my makeup for work — very demure, very mindful,” Fiennes began his monologue in Times Square.

“I don’t come to work with a green cut-crease. I don’t look like a clown when I go to work,” Fiennes continued as Cohen, 56, and Cooper, 57, tried to hold back laughter.

The “Skyfall” star went on, “I don’t do too much. I’m mindful at work. See how I look. Very presentable. The way I came to the interview is the way I go to the job. A lot of you girls go to the interview looking like Marge Simpson, looking like Patty and Selma. Not demure.”

“But I am very modest,” Fiennes added, as Cooper burst into laughter and turned away from the actor.

Fiennes finished his monologue saying to Cohen, “Here’s a reality check, diva. What’s the name you want me to make it out to?”

Cooper nearly fell over while laughing as Cohen asked his pal, “Did you like that Anderson?”

“I liked that very much,” the famous journalist responded.

Cohen then told Fiennes, “Thank you for performing that for us. That was one of the biggest monologues of the year.”

“I didn’t know,” Fiennes admitted.

“That was amazing,” Cooper told the actor.

After praising Fiennes, Cohen told viewers to watch Fiennes’ new film “Conclave” where he plays a pope investigating secrets and scandals in the church.

Cohen also mentioned that Fiennes was nominated for a Golden Globe for the role.

Fiennes went viral on social media on NYE for his “very demure” monologue.

“Ralph Fiennes deserves a Golden Globe for this alone,” one fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

“10/10 – no notes. I am saving this now for a day when I feel super down about humanity or the state of the world or myself,” another fan said.

“Anderson is f—ing fighting for his life,” a third person wrote with laughing emojis.

A different fan called Fiennes’ monologue “the best thing to happen tonight, next to Anderson Cooper’s reaction.”

“It’s not just his laugh, it’s Anderson completely losing his s–t,” someone else wrote.

The “very demure” trend was started by TikTok user Jools LeBron over the summer. LeBron filmed a video about her work look that quickly went viral on social media.
