Ranking the biggest winners of MLB’s big-money offseason

There are scores of free agents still looking for work, and teams have much work to do, too. But we are just days from pitchers and catchers reporting, so it’s time for our annual winners of winter list. 

1. Juan Soto

Broke the record for net present value by $300 million with his $765M Mets deal. You can say he’s not Shohei Ohtani, but MLB teams were obviously enamored with the 26-year-old wunderkind. 

2. Dodgers

After signing Roki Sasaki, Blake Snell, Tanner Scott and Kirby Yates, the Dodgers have the deepest rotation and bullpen maybe ever. Is Tyler Glasnow the No. 5 starter? Or maybe it’s Sasaki? Is Evan Phillips the sixth-inning guy? Or maybe Yates? They are 5/2 favorites to win the World Series, and even that looks like a deal. 

3. Mets

They’re a strong second among teams to LA, after pleasing their fans — and Soto — with the late Pete Alonso signing.
