Royals have ‘no interest’ in Meghan Markle’s future projects after Netflix trailer release: experts

The royal family simply has “no interest” in Meghan Markle’s business ventures, according to several prominent royal commentators.

The Duchess of Sussex, 43, dropped the first trailer for her Netflix lifestyle series titled “With Love, Meghan” last week, in which she showed off her cooking and gardening skills with appearances from her celebrity friends.

But despite the heart-warming snippet from the series, which is set to drop on Jan. 15, it appears as though her husband Prince Harry’s estranged family members will not be tuning in to watch.

“I was told that the Prince and Princess of Wales have no interest in Meghan’s future projects,” royal expert and commentator Kinsey Schofield told Fox News about Prince William and Kate Middleton.

“A palace source told me, ‘Meghan was a background character in a chapter that’s already closed.’ Courtiers don’t believe that Meghan is worth the mental real estate.”

“The palace plans to assign someone of lower rank to sit through the show, so the communications office has a heads up if there is something to brace for,” Schofield went on. “Netflix is not giving the palace, or anyone, screeners so they will see it in real-time with the audience.

“Regarding the vapid celebrity-focused theme, courtiers are just grateful that Meghan’s taken a break from attacking the institution,” she added.

Elsewhere, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams claimed that the Windsor clan simply “couldn’t give a damn” about Markle’s business ventures since she quit royal life in 2020.

“Meghan does still make news, and the Sussex brand still fascinates,” he said. “But… [the series] looked pretty superficial to me. I wondered where the Kardashians were. The royals just couldn’t give a damn.”

Markle posted the trailer on her new Instagram page last week, writing, “I have been so excited to share this with you! I hope you love the show as much as I loved making it. Wishing you all a fantastic new year! Thanks to our amazing crew and the team @netflix. Beyond grateful for the support – and fun!”

Directed by Michael Steed, “With Love, Meghan” boasts eight episodes, each 33 minutes long. Markle and Harry, 40, produced the series via their Archewell Productions company.

The “Suits” alum finished filming the show in July.

But despite Markle’s return to Instagram last week, it appears as though the royals are yet to hit the follow button on her profile.

While several senior members of the royal family boast profile on the platform, it appears as though none of them have followed Markle’s shiny new page just yet.

King Charles and Queen Camilla, who both posts under the @theroyalfamily handle on Instagram, do not follow Markle’s new account.

The same goes for Prince William and Kate Middleton, whose account @princeandprincessofwales is also yet to follow the former royal.

Surprisingly, Princess Eugenie — who has remained close to the Sussexes since their departure from royal life — is also not following the former actress on the platform. The same goes for her sister, Princess Beatrice.

The Sussexes signed a $100 million deal with the streaming giant in 2020. It’s unclear if their deal with the platform will be renewed when it comes to an end this summer.
